Hotels Rotherham

Holiday Inn Rotherham-Sheffield M1,Jct.33

West Bawtry Road, Rotherham S60 2XL, UK – 0871 510 1376

The staff were lovely - couldn't fault them, and the food was fine in the restaurant. There are gym facilities available. The location is convenient, just off the motorway, but the "view" is onto the dual carriageway. The hotel itself is a bit tired. The newly refurbished bathroom and shower was nice but the rest of the room could do with an update. The curtains were mouldy ( No. I'm not even talking about the shower curtain!).

Have just had a very enjoyable weekend at the Holiday Inn in Rotherham. The staff are very cheerful, helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is excellent and a good portion is served. My partner and i would especially like to thank Ella and Chris for their very attentive service. Well worth the money.

Carlton Park Hotel

102-104 Moorgate Rd, Rotherham S60 2BG, UK – 01709 849955

Clean spacious room with fan to keep it cool. Needs more outside space to relax and eat and drink. The pub area at the end loses out to the pub next door. Breakfast for the price was fair but not anything to gush about. Jacuzzi broken and appears to have been like that for ages. Enjoyed the stay due to friends I was with.

Lovely place to stay, lots of wedding parties when I stayed. Good restaurant and facilities, small pool and solarium, gym, nice to have a relaxing swim each morning. Staff all really pleasant and went out of their way to help

114 Moorgate Rd, Rotherham S60 2TY, UK – 0845 608 6040

Been today on Fathers day party of 9.for daughters birthday. Food was lovely really good value for money. All hot and steaks cooked perfect. Lamb Sunday dinner was lovely proper fresh veg. So.e family had travelled to be there and really enjoyed

Good food and reasonable prices. They do a Seniors menu, which is what I had. A starter and main or main and dessert for £4.49. Friendly staff offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

The Hind

285 E Bawtry Rd, Whiston, Rotherham S60 4ET, UK – 01709 532490

Friendly staff & nice atmosphere but food not so great

Having recently moved to the area we thought we'd try this one for a meal. Very nice atmosphere, clean and welcoming. Staff are very friendly. Prices are good and the food was lovely. We had steak, ribs, lasagne and mixed grill and were very pleased with the quality, we have been back since but the food wasn't as good as the first time, Sunday dinner - vegetables were dry as though they'd been left under the heat lamp too long

The Brecon Guest House

53 Moorgate Rd, Rotherham S60 2AY, UK – 01709 828811

Great experience. Large quiet room, let us check in slightly early Were told by staff where we wanted to go was very near to the hotel so saved money on taxis. So great location. Bed was good and room was warm Was staying in the annexe in the back, apparently all rooms are located there as we went as large group and were all located there, but there was plenty of parking which was all that we wanted.

Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Rotherham Campsites and Caravan Parks

Thrybergh Country Park

Doncaster Rd, Thrybergh, Rotherham S65 4NU, UK – 01709 850353

I was looking for a decent walk but not too strenuous in the hot weather. There is a nice even footpath which goes all the way around the lake with a cafe near the car park. Parking is £1.70 per car for all day. I saw people with ice creams and drinks. There are multiple benches to sit in both the sun and the shade as you walk around the lake. The total length I believe is around 1.75 miles and takes around 45 mins or so at a leisurely pace. It's an ideal place for an early morning run and the children there seemed to be enjoying feeding the ducks and other birds. As a side note there is a caravan and camping site next to the car park with electric hook up which seemed to have a few caravans and tents on.

Thrybergh Country Park is our local "Out for a walk" first choice. It's quiet and calm. The walk around the lake is just enough. 1 3/4 miles in 35 minutes. Finished with a famous Cornish ice cream at a reasonable price or a good quality coffee. And then there are the Swans! So majestic and full of calm.
